What to Wear

What to Wear to Class

Como Physie doesn't have a strict uniform, but we do ask that everyone wears appropriate activewear that's safe and comfortable for dancing.

Quick Guidelines - All Ages

✓ DO Wear:

✗ DON'T Wear:

  • Fitted activewear or dance clothing
  • Bike shorts, leggings, or fitted dance shorts
  • T-shirts, singlets, crop tops, or leotards
  • Activewear skirts with bike shorts/leggings underneath
  • Hair tied back
  • Long party dresses or costumes (trip hazard!)
  • Loose baggy clothing
  • Jeans or restrictive clothing
  • Shoes or socks (we dance barefoot)

Why These Guidelines?

Safety: Fitted clothing prevents trips and tangles
Technique: Teachers can see your body alignment and help you improve
Movement: You need to jump, stretch, spin, and dance freely
Barefoot: Better balance, grip, and foot strength

Specific Recommendations

Petites (2-4 years)

Top: T-shirt, singlet, or fitted activewear top
Bottom: Bike shorts, leggings, active shorts, or activewear skirt
Important for parents: Please save party dresses and tutus for home! Activewear helps little ones move safely and build their skills.

Juniors, Teens & Seniors (5-17+ years)

Top: Fitted t-shirt, singlet, crop top, sports bra (with high-waisted bottoms), leotard, or old performance wear
Bottom: Bike shorts, leggings, dance shorts, or fitted activewear skirt with shorts/leggings underneath

Ladies (18-70+ years)

Top: Fitted t-shirt, singlet, activewear top, leotard, or old performance wear
Bottom: Leggings, bike shorts, or dance pants

Como Physie Uniform (Optional)

We offer Como Physie tops and tracksuits (jacket & pants) that you can purchase. While most members wear these to competitions, you're welcome to wear them to class as well! They're a great option if you want to show your Como pride.

Not required for class - Regular activewear is perfectly fine!

What to Bring

Water bottle - Stay hydrated!
Hair ties - Keep hair secure and out of your face
Towel (optional) - For after warm-ups

Keep It Simple

Basic black leggings and a fitted t-shirt work perfectly! You don't need expensive dance-specific clothing to start. Most activewear from sports stores or department stores (Target, Kmart, Big W, Rebel, etc.) is ideal.

The Bottom Line: Comfort + Safety + Freedom of Movement = Perfect Physie Outfit!
